"I responded to a call concerning a crippled elk.  After determining that the elk was beyond recovery I put it down with two .22 longrifle rounds fired from a semi-auto pistol.  Jimmy stated that his dogs could find the casings on the ground near the elk.  He took the first dog to a location about 50 yards away from the elk.  While facing the opposite direction, he released the dog and gave the command to find the casings. The dog ran in a large arc and when passing the elk on the opposite side fromJimmy he turned and worked his way past the elk and located one of the casings.  The dog sat down and pointed toward the casing with his nose. "
